چکیده

We propose a very general syntactical notion of epistemic state and a compact axiomatization for iterated revision when the new information is an epistemic state. We set representation theorems and give two semantical representations of operators: by polynomials and by weighted belief bases. These representations will result to be equivalent.

Iterated revision by epistemic states : axioms , semantics and

We propose a very general syntactical notion of epistemic state and a compact axiomatization for iterated revision when the new information is an epistemic state. We set representation theorems and give two semantical representations of operators: by polynomials and by weighted belief bases. These representations will result to be equivalent.

A Conditional Logic for Iterated Belief Revision

In this paper we propose a conditional logic IBC to represent iterated belief revision. We define an iterated belief revision system by strengthening the postulates proposed by Darwiche and Pearl [3]. First, following the line of Darwiche and Pearl, we modify AGM postulates to make belief revision a function of epistemic states rather than of belief sets. Then we propose a set of postulates for...

Three Scenarios for the Revision of Epistemic States

This position paper discusses the difficulty of interpreting iterated belief revision in the scope of the existing literature. Axioms of iterated belief revision are often presented as extensions of the AGM axioms, upon receiving a sequence of inputs. More recent inputs are assumed to have priority over less recent ones. We argue that this view of iterated revision is at odds with the claim, ma...

Strong Syntax Splitting for Iterated Belief Revision

AGM theory is the most influential formal account of belief revision. Nevertheless, there are some issues with the original proposal. In particular, Parikh has pointed out that completely irrelevant information may be affected in AGM revision. To remedy this, he proposed an additional axiom (P) aiming to capture (ir)relevance by a notion of syntax splitting. In this paper we generalize syntax s...

Meta-epistemic logic: A minimal logic for reasoning about revealed beliefs

Reasoning about knowledge described in classical propositional logic is usually handled either in the meta-language as in belief revision, considering the dynamics of belief bases, or at the object level by means of modal logic. In the latter case, modalities express knowledge, belief, or absence thereof, about the truth of formulae. But the semantics is described in terms of accessibility rela...
